Does the Bible Have Anything to Say About
Organizing or Time Management?
Actually, yes, it does!
It does not say, “thou shalt declutter,” but there are timeless principles that apply:
I Corinthians 14:33
“For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.”
I Corinthians 14:40
“. . . Everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.”
I Peter 1:13
“Prepare yourselves for action, be self-controlled . . . ”
Titus 3:14
“Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.”
Colossians 3:17
“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
The ant provides a lesson for us to be diligent, carefully planning our work for the appropriate time:
Proverbs 6:6-8
“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.”
There is a time for everything. To be organized and manage one’s time well is to do everything in its time.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
There is an appointed time for everything.
And there is a time for every event under heaven–
A time to give birth and a time to die;
A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
A time to kill and a time to heal;
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn and a time to dance.
A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.
A time to search and a time to give up as lost;
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear apart and a time to sew together;
A time to be silent and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate;
A time for war and a time for peace.
